usmc0332
My Birchwood Casey bluing job on my Turk took a beating through use and a day of bear hunting in the pouring rain. I bought Oxpho Blue and went over it after cleaning it up and it looks better than it did when the BC job was new. It is easier to use and doesn't continue to stink like the other stuff. AzRednek
I've done a couple of Turks with Birchwood Casey's Super Blue and had rather good results. It took everywhere except the buttplate. If you got good results without the stench I'm definitly switching brands!!
Horsefly
I've used Oxpho for several years now and have had better results from it than Birchwood by far.I found that the first application should be put on real thick and as even as possible.Let it set until it starts drying, and then wipe it off.If it has streaks or slotches, steel wool it off and do it again until your satisfied. That first coat is what it'll look like, after that your just darkening it.My biggest mistake was over-doing it between coats with the steel wool.My Thompson Center Renegade has been through pure hell for 20 years now,and the Oxpho has held up great, and is now a light grey patina, just like an old Browning, with not a speck of rust anywhere.Jerry
