ken98k
I just won a on-line auction for a couple of Banner mausers. It'll probably take a couple weeks for them to get here. I can't wait!

ken98k
I knew the Chinese made a copy of the German "Standard Modell" but I've never heard they put the Mauser logo on them. I hope that's not what I'm getting! Kenny
dirtyjim
the chinese banners should be easy to spot. the letters are shapped slightly different & it has two small round marking on the sides of the front of the receiver right above the woodline. if you need some pics to tell the difference let me know & i'll post some
ken98k
DirtyJim, I found some interesting stuff about Chinese Banners. Thought you might be interested. The sunburst is a Nationalist China insignia used as sort of an acceptance / ownership mark. http://www.gunboards.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2630 In my collection I also have a kar98k with Chinese makings on the stock. The receiver is marked "ar" over 41, which is (was) the Mauser plant in Berlin. Since this rifle was manufactured after Germany ceased exporting rifles to China, it was likely a Russian capture and given to communist China after the war.
