karlunity
The extracter on Boris, my 1917 enfield gave up the ghost. The gripping claw snapped off. Gee..after only 87 years. Boris was made in 1918! I called Gunparts, as Wiseguy does not list the part, they will have a new one here by next week. I will be worried till I get the new part on and get him to the range. NOTE WARNING>>> I was using "Olympic brass head stamp: E.D.P.02 30.06. I had pulled the bullets as Boris does not like 150 gr bullets, and reloaded the case with the "LOAD" and 180 fmj. While I was reloading, I noticed that the base on some of the brass was "FAT", indeed some was so thick that it would not fit into the reloading shell holder. I think that the "thick" base may have snapped the extracter. If you folk use Olympic ammo with older rifles, have a care. Karl Life is simple. Guest Guest_z1r_*
Karl, In general, I have not heard good things about olympic brass. The 8x57 crowd gave consistently negative feedback. I have not tried it for this reason but thought I'd pass along these unsubstantiated rumors as is one's duty. Glad boris will be back together soon. Guest Guest_mod70_*
IMO, Olympic brass & ammo stinks. FWIW, I have also been hearing of thick rims and other brass issues with the American Ammo brand.
