I've tried Marine Tex and I think every form of epoxy I can get from Home Depot. They all "work".

I keep going back to plain old Brownell's Acraglas. Its kinda spendy for what you get, but it really does the job without quirks.

Its darn hard to beat Acraglas Gel!!

+1 for Acraglas Gel. Devcon Liquid Steel is reasonably easy to work with for high-stress applications. I really like it for glassing M1s and M1As. I still prefer Acraglas Gel for most applications, though. Another good one is Micro-Bed, formerly made by the Micro Sight Company, but now owned and made by Brownells. It's really handy when you only need a small amount of glass.

Whatever product you choose (I use Devcon Plastic Steel, myself)....do yourself a favor and avoid the thin, very liquid epoxy products, like the original Acraglass. If you use a gel or better yet (IMO), a putty-style epoxy, then no dams will be needed inside the stock....and cleanup will be much easier.
