donmarkey
I was going to install a dayton trigger this morning, but it doesn't fit in the trigger recess. I lightly honed the side of the trigger to remove any burrs(there were a few) and now it will fit if you force it. I am assuming it is supposed to fit like the military trigger and move freely in the recess because it uses a spring to hold it back, not a set screw like a timmey. I don't like the trigger and it feels cheap. Even though it does break nicely. Do I just have a defective trigger or are they all like this? I can open up the recess in the mill, but I wouldn't think I'd have to. Anyone know if anyone else make a trigger that will work in a rifle converted to cock on open using the dayton cocking piece and recutting the cocking cam? I already did the bolt work am I stuck using the dayton trigger? -Don
donmarkey
I answered one of my own questions. A timmey trigger works just fine with the dayton cocking piece. I pulled one from another rifle to test it out. I guess I'll have to order a 6 shot timmey (the 5 shot I had is a little short) and another cocking piece and mainspring. Then I can return the dayton kit, I hope they take it back now that I installed and tried to fit it. -Don
