machinist1
Has anyone had any trouble with tha magizine dropping open while firing thier SKS? Mine is a Nirenco with the original magizine. Do you think that the mag catch spring has weakened? Any ideas for a fix? Thanks, Bob
karlunity
Odds are the spring is weak and the catch could use having it's groves polished. Karl
machinist1
I was thinking of installing the Wolf spring kit but I think it comes with a reduced pressure trigger/magizine catch spring. Has anyone had any experience with the Wolf kit?
karlunity
I have not used the Wolf kit. I got some "issue" springs from "GUNPARTS" corp. I got several as I recall and trimmed off the odd coil till I was happy with it. Karl
brokengun
This is just a suggestion but before you replace the spring take a look at the lip on the magazine box and see if it’s bent. The magazine box lip has a very slight upward bed in it so that the latch can hold it in place. The latch also has a very slight angle on its contact surface. If the contact surfaces are ok then I would replace the spring.
machinist1
Thanks for the suggestions. The magizine lip and the catch don't look to be worn. The blue is still there. I think I'll order the Wolf kit and try it. To see what happens. Thanks, Bob
machinist1
Update. Recieved the Wolff spring kit yesterdy and installed it today. The sear/mag catch pin is a pain. The hammer spring is no picinic either. Next step, range session. Will give report later. Thanks for all of your help. Bob
Dr.Hess
Does anyone have any take-off parts from a Chinese SKS? I need basically all the stuff people take off when they put US made parts on, like gas tube, piston, etc. The parts places want a forture for this stuff and I can't see spending that kind of money on it. karlunity
That is true. The parts now cost more then the rifle, if you CAN find the parts at all. karl
budget_patriot
careful with those wolf springs i ordered a set and the hammer spring sucks. every other round failed to fire and i had to strip the trigger group at the range and put the old factory spring back in. i left the sear block spring in to keep a lighter trigger pull. but i advise anyone against using their hammer spring.
