tinkerfive
Gents I had finally gotten around to cleaning the barrels on a few 7mm Colombians to see if any might be salvageable. I saw the same pattern again and again. I've seen this before, just not so many times. Depending on severity it can vary from loss 1/4 of the radius to complete rings that make the bore look like a series of waves. Always thou, they are at 90* to the length of the barrel. Logic would tend to make one think that wear / scraping would appear as some loss ( gouge ) down the length of the barrel. Corrosive powder residue I'd think would appear more random. It's this (90* to the length) pattern that has me baffled. The result of the boring and rifling process setting up stress patterns in the steel????
