karlunity
Fellas I am working on another computer a dell inspiron 4100 laptop. All the sites say that I need around 500 gigs of ram to run XP pro properly. The 4100 has 256 in it and according to Norden, I am not using more than 56 % of that even when I run all my programs at once as a test. Would upgrading to 512 be useful or should I save the money and buy more ammo? karl
z1r
I tend to run all the ram my system will support or that I can afford. It generally reduces how often your system has to look to the harddrive. Ram is much faster than accessing your HD.
Jimro
The upgrade to 512 will be helpful for XP Pro once those applications you have open start working on projects that require their own RAM addresses. Jimro
donmarkey
Buy the ammo, you can wait a few extra moments in front of the computer. -Don
