FC
Too many spammers. I made signing up harder. Hopefully it works.

Dr.Hess
We seem to be under attack. I deleted about 2 pages worth of "awaiting email registrations" for .cn's, .ru's and .gmails.
FC
It will hurt getting new members, but I'll force email validation. One guy wrote me saying he got no email. I had this problem in the past.
cold shot
Hi FC, I see spammers are at it again. I hope you catch the buggers.I find them on other sites too. roscoedoh
Tony, Many online forums require an email account for registration and if a prospective member does not have one, there are several free email services available. Due to a heightened volume of spam, we are forced to set a higher standard for new membership. While inconvenient, I see it as necessary. I'm still shocked by the post I deleted last night... Are any of you guys computer literate? Several websites use an application called CAPTCHA to screen out spammers. Is that something we can hook up here? FC
I've had Captcha set up (supposedly), and email validation set up, but Enfield Fan said he never got an email. Wonder if his service deleted the notice?
Dr.Hess
Tony how do you delete a member i went thru the member list and found at least 10 porn spammers i could just eject i am on here on and off almost everyday since i work here at farm and my shop i pop of and on many times daily. Rod Click "Admin CP". Login. Click Manage Members. Copy/paste or type their name or the first part of it in Members Display Name. Pull down the Options down arrow menu next to their name. Select Delete All Members Posts/Topics. After all the checks and you've deleted all their posts, then go back and find them again and select Delete Member. All gone. roscoedoh
I sure wish I knew as much about using software as I do Mausers and stained glass. I'm certain there's a solution to our problem but I don't know enough about how our system works to figure it out. The fact that its eluding me is bugging the heck out of me. FC
Yup, a true expert would be nice. You probably don't have to go to all the trouble of deleting the spammers who aren't able to post; it just makes more work for you. Thanks for the help with this stuff guys.
