Eldora
A couple of years ago I bought a Colt Frontier Scout .22 pistol in the original (numbered) box with all the original accessories and paperwork. It's not a re-finish and doesn't appear to have ever been turned, much less fired. Here's the kicker: It is a .22 LR/.22WMR convertible. The magnum cylinder in the box looks like crap. I'm certain it's not original to this gun. It's even nickel plated My question to you guys is how do I go about removing the old flaking nickel so I can polish/blue this extra cylinder? I'll never install it in the gun so I don't care whether it even fits or not. It would just look better in the box, for whatever that's worth. Besides, I need a small, inexpensive project since I'm almost through "freshening" up a Mauser project I built in '05. (I'll get a few pics once everything s re-assembled.) What's the best way to remove the old nickel plating?
rebel49
Brownells sells a nickel stripper that is easy to use at room temp. Trouble is when you are done you have a bunch left over. I have used it to strip a S&W Mod 10 and it did a great job. Rebel49
AzRednek
I was told back in the 70's by a gunsmith that Colt nickel plated guns and parts to hide blemishes.

pacrat
Take it to a local Chrome Shop. Chromed parts are first nickled then chromed. For repair they are unchromed and unnickled then polished and replated.
