Got the mirrors replaced and burned in my first images. We have lift off!

 

This was simple block text and silhouette images on junk wood. Not much to look at, but sure is nice to see this work after all the troubleshooting and re-engineering. I actually had to cut down one of the "special mirrors to clear the frame. Thank goodness for dremel tools.

 

Downloaded a silhoutte from the internet and used MS Paint to edit and clean. Put on a scrap 2x4.

Here you can see the lasers effect on scrap piece of red oak. Image took a little less than 3 minutes to burn.

I'll post pictures of the stock related stuff as I figure this thing out. Still a good three or four months from putting a "real" stock in there for customizing. Got a lot of learnin' to do.

I can vary the burn rate and power plus do multiple passes to vary the depth. The sample I did of the deer on the 2x4 was about 1/16th of an inch doing medium power and medium speed with a single pass.
