swamprat
Any one know the spring pressure for a Helwan hammer. I have one that takes a lot of pull to cock also the slide cannot be pulled back unless hammer is cocked. This pistol has been messed with by someone before me and I think it has the wrong spring. Could it be something else hanging up? I can't see anything out of wack but have not totally disassembled the gun. Swamprat
karlunity
On the Helwan I have the recoil spring was so strong as to prevent anyone but King Kong from pulling back the slide with the hammer down. I cut a few curls from the spring. The recoil spring now extends three curls beyond the tip of the operating rod. Make that 3 and 3/4 of an inch long. It is now possible to pull the slide and chamber a round when starting with the hammer down. Take care Karl
swamprat
Karl, Cut spring to your measurements and it worked like a charm. Also found that safety sear spring was in wrong. Pistol now works like a champ. Many Thanks! Swamprat
