pacrat
742wd.........+1 250 Savage is well within pressure levels considered prudent for a small ring mauser.

Guest tinkerfive
what are you planning on pointing it at? Think about what you want to hunt. You might also consider 300 Savage. I think that there is a wider choice in .308 bullets than in .257. Good luck with your project and welcome, you've come to the right place. Feel free to ask questions if you aren't sure of something. I think that you will find a wealth of knowledge here even if opinions differ at times. Tinker
AzRednek
You might also consider the 257 Roberts. 257 Bob is based on the the 7MM Mauser cartridge which your Mauser was originally chambered for. 257 brass and ammo might be easier to find than 250 Savage. Brenden
.257 bob would resolve any feeding issues, but a .250 &.300 savage are such classic rounds. I'm still trying to decide if i want a .250 or .300 on my 93. Most likely go the .300 route since I will have a .257 bob pretty soon. Have fun with that project!
