Guest enbloc
I've an 1891 Argentine Mauser that the Rcvr. has been drilled & tapped 6/48 with holes 1/2 inch o.c. fore & aft. Rcvr. has not been altered any further. Asked gunsmith for bases. He got out some Weaver bases, but said the spacing was wrong on the front. The front base did appear to have the holes further apart then the rear. He felt that someone "did their own thing here." The bolt has been altered to clear a Scope and the bbl. shortened to 24 inch. Would like to mount a Scope on her. Any suggestions as to what will work for me? Thanks
odies dad
Usually a regular small ring base will work on a 91, but the hole spacing is different from front to back. You may try modifying a set for a 1903 Springfield. IIRC, they are spaced at 1/2" in both front and back.
