Uncle Grinch,

 

I don't know the answer to your pitch question. I can tell you you don't need the screw. Since the sight is already soldered, screw isn't needed.

 

When assembled at armory the sights were slid onto barrel after headspacing barrel (frnt and rear). Aligned with the top of the barrel. Set screws were tightened to hold them in place and then soldered. That is also why some of the screws can be such a bear to remove, because of some solder wicking up into the threads.
