FC Posted November 13, 2010 Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 I had my new bolt action .17 HMR in storage while I was in Hawaii. Took it out to sight in yesterday. Dang- when I bought it I didn't know there was a difference between .17 HMR and .17 Mach 2. Spiris Posted November 14, 2010 Report Share Posted November 14, 2010 I've had a 17HMR for a few years now, and it's quite accurate, but I've stopped shooting it. HMR ammo was $6.95 when it came out, now it's around $12-$15 a box. I can load 50rds of my 222-223 ammo for close to that, and they are longer range and as accurate. I found that the 17gr Hornady was much more accurate than the heavier jacketed 20gr TNT round out of my NEF Sportster heavy barrel.
