724wd
well, we're 11.5 weeks early, but so far so good! my wife's membrane broke on wednesday. she was in the hospital for a couple days with plans to be in there until the baby came... well, i got the call this morning she was having contractions! they were trying to halt the progress, but it wasn't really working. doc came in to check her cervix and exclaimed "OH! well, you're having a kid today. there's a hand sticking out." so, down the road to the other hospital with a NICU we went. an hour and four pushes later, we had a little (LITTLE) boy! 2 pounds, 9 ounces. he cried right off the bat and they took him upstairs. we went to see him after a while and took this pic. when we went back tonight, he had graduated from the CPAP mask to just the nostril tube with his O2 still 96-99% at room oxygen levels! so far so good! heath

724wd
thanks all. two good days and one, well, less good. they had to intubate him last night when he stopped breathing. not uncommon, just sucks. they want to extubate him tomorrow and hopefully that goes well! there was also a bit of cranial bleeding, again, pretty common, but sucks. it was on the low end of the scale for amount, which is good for bleeding, but not as good as not bleeding! we'll know more as time goes on... 724wd
we're doing really well! about ready to come off the CPAP, the arm IV is out, all the cords are out of the umbilical stump and what bleeding shawn has in his head is no worse than before and looks to be rectifying itself! it's hard to fathom it's been almost a week. to see him off all the stuff when they/we're changing him and repositioning... to see him looking around and wiggling like a kid should makes the worrying kinda worth it. some day this will all just be part of what makes shawn shawn. if any of you're interested, you can visit his caringbridge site. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/shawnharmon i update is pretty much everyday to keep friends and family up to date. thanks for all the well wishes! heath
