FC
It was 105 today. We had to spray the chicks down with water. It looked like they were in real trouble because they were panting. We put ice packs in the water. I watered the garden twice today. Two or three more days before the heat cracks.
Dr.Hess
It was hot here today, but I think we're over the worst of it. We had a slight breeze and I was working outside all day. I think it "only" got up to 97. It's been 100 for the past few days.
FC
Be glad you are outside of the really hot area. Supposedly this region "felt" like 155-120. We'll have to cool the birds down again today.
karlunity
Try the desert. 115 was a normal summer day. Heck, the Hippy and I don't bother with air/con a lot of the time here in Fl. It is the snow, I worry about. A brother from Nam offered me some land in Maine but I don't know if I could hack the winters. karl
JoshF
We had low 90's and high humidity. pretty warm for western PA. We watered the heck out of the gardens at night and filled kidde pools for the ducks. We just left the hose trickle under a shade tree in the chicken fence and they seemed to enjoy that. Thankfully it is not as hot or humid today. 85 here.

FC
I read where a woman enclosed her chickens in the shower as a last resort. Well, it's only in the mid to upper 90s now, and I know the birds can handle it. Might need to get misters for the fans on the birds. It takes 6 months to get a hen to laying age, so they are worth protecting.
