pacrat
Same same basic product as Tru-oil at a higher cost. IIRC Tru-oil is bout $6 for a 3 ounce bottle and will do several stocks. JM2c
karlunity
Lin-Speed is a jelly type oil. Tru-oil is sorta like a cream. If I want to do a Mauser or say an Enfield, I would go the Tru-oil system. Clean the stock steel wool or sand paper, stain and finish with 7 coats of tru-oil and 7 coats of wax. But if it was just a ax-or knife handle? Lin-speed. It is quicker and the finish is almost as strong. karl
AzRednek
I prefer Tru-Oil because of the quicker drying time. Over the years I've done numerous stocks and handgun grips with both Lin Speed and Tru Oil. Lin Speed goes on a bit to thick in my opinion and the surface is not dust proof as fast as with Tru-Oil. Years ago I mixed Lin Speed with something, just can't recall for sure what the something was. Most likely mineral spirits. I found the diluted Lin Speed to dry as fast as Tru-Oil and it was much easier to work with. I would not be surprised if the chemical make up of both products are very similar.
