Hey guys good to see you, been a while. I went home on leave during rifle season and did some deer hunting...only got 1 doe with my DPMS rig. During my visit to the good old USA I built a few more toys This one is a FN action, FAC 300 wm Stainless 26 inch barrel, Richards Microfit tac driver stock in Tigerwood, Bold Optimum trigger, Sightron S3 Scope, Leupold Mount and rings. Action was trued, parked, luggs lapped, raceways polished and modified for the magnum cal., Glass bed action and free floated the barrel. Should be a shooter.

You are correct, yes it is

Yes I bed the entire action no need to bed the barrel unless you are doing a full bed/pressure bed, no need for the first 2 inchs to be bed unless you are sporting a very heavy barrel and even so, you will be better off letting the barrel free float all of the way, in the picture it shows the first 2 inches bedded but I cut it out before finnishing the gun.

243 works well and you can use a magwell block, or a recoil shoulders to prevent the round from moving in the magwell

Sorry took so long, I am TDY down south in Korea, Iam in a Hotel. What did you use to finish your stock,? First sprayed with car trunk paint for texture, then cammo done with Krylon. Is it reinforced to attach the bipod? no, never had a need too. Also do you do anything special to hold the mag spring in place? no it works fine

The ATI really does not need the forend filled in, it is strong enough. here are some photos of what I do to them.

I got a n e-mail back from one of my friends that I built a 35 Whelen for from a VZ 24. Hi Jim how are you doing?? DV got back from Africa and said his gun you made performed very well!! (he only used 200gr)..he shot many animals,including big Kudos--which they say tasted very great! I think his longest shot was 150yds--whatever he hit he knocked over!! He said this African guide said your rifle was the nicest he had ever seen in all his years guiding! he will send pictures of the critters soon
