rdm1962
Hey Guy's, I am getting ready to mount a tip and cap on my next project. I have a great piece of Rosewood to use. I can't find a resource for the "white spacer". I have looked on Brownells and Midway, no luck. Am I just missing them. Anyone have a resource of were to get white space material. pacrat
Last ones I made I cut from a white 5 gallon bucket.
ken98k
Last ones I made I cut from a white 5 gallon bucket. If you want thinner spacers you can use plastic from a bleach bottle. I'm surprised Brownnells or Midway doesn't carry them, both places used to.
sayak
You might try micarta. It is laminatable and very durable. http://www.texasknife.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=587_826_841_611&products_id=1337
PhilVH
You might want to try wood veneer, available from the Marquetry supply houses, holly or maple make good spacers. Also basswood, available at Lowe's or Home Depot. Â Phil VH
AzRednek
If you have seen any of the rifles our currently absent member Z1R had made. He adds the tip without any spacer. Never done it myself so I don't know how difficult it might be but it is something to consider. Come on Z. I know you check in occasionally, how about speaking up!! donmarkey
I haven't used a spacer in over a decade. But trends change. It used to be white lines and rollovers. Now it seems to be back to the classics. Don
rdm1962
I didn't put one on my 280 Rem. My Daughter wants one on this 308 I'm building for her. I'll be trying out some different ideas. Thanks Ralph
spec4 e4
what about a white mudflap? Rob
Kevin Coakley
Try a piece of plastic from a credit card or a plastic key card from a hotel. They are stiff, easy to file/sand, flat, and about the correct thickness.
