Need Advice On Amd65 Build

Anyone out there built a AMD65 using screws? I don't have a press to remove the barrel so I drilled out the rivets in the trunion. I was planning to tap the holes and use screws to attach the receiver.

Anyone have any suggestions or comments on using scews.

i've built a dozen or so using M6 grade 8 button heads. i used m6 because that was the biggest screw i could safely get into the rear trunion on the romi builds. contrary to what some people say i have never had any problems from any screw builds. i have a couple that have more than a thousand rounds through them without coming loose. all i used was blue loctite. hope that helps

I'll give the screws a try.

I was planning on using the NODAK SPUD LLC (NDS-65) reeciver.

Thanks for your reply.

i"ve built both ways ..i use rivets most times now...i no longer remove the barrel ...just drill out the old rivet and use a air hammer to drive in a new rivet..just make sure the rivet is long some that it expands in the hole..and use a modified bolt cutter to mash the mag rivets..you can flair the trigger guard rivets with a center punch.. i"ve used bolts but i like rivets better..

My first one was with screws and I have put almost a case through it by now with no problems The last two I did were with rivits just so they look more authentic (I can't tell a diference firing either ones). Sonics rivit advice is what I do also. works well.
