Ronniet
Have a Short Mexican bolt with a bad pin hole I would like to use to replace the very bad bolt in my Mexican Custom. It has a eroded pin hole that may clean up some with the face cleaning but still may be a little egg ed. Any advice? Also I have noticed that there are some very nice pictures of some custom welded bolt handles on this site. I would like to know who are the gurus of the bolt handle welders, I have always just used the Brownell type handles andwould like one of these for a change. all advice is appreciated, Thank you, Ronnie

That would probably require reheat treating the bolt. The best handles I've seen here come from Z1r, Tanglewood, and Weaver77. There are probably others here that do excellent work but those 3 are the most notable. Kenny
Ronniet
Thank you Kenny, I believe that is whose work I have seen here. I would like for them to drop me a note if they read the post please. Maybe there is a resident member here that knows how to weld up and rebore the hole? Again, Thank you Ron
trailspike48
Ron, You can get a copy of "Mauser M98 & M96" by R. A. Walsh, out of print but copies available, if you do a search you'll find a copy. He details how to build a firing pin plug, TIG weld the damage, and refinish to original depth with a lathe. No recasehardening required. Pete
z1r
You want to be a real good weldor. The Mexican muasers tend toward the softside already. Heat control is a must.
donmarkey
Rod (tanglewood) has experience welding up the faces without overheating the bolt. With anyone else I know, I would say recarberizing is a must. But why would you build on a mex without recarbing anyway. -Don
