Bolt Jeweling

Recommended Posts

Don't know if I'm slow or just afraid. I've read Steve Wagners piece on bolt jeweling and built my jig and have the bolt polished but unlike skydiving (you get to altitude they open the door, you get out) I'm having trouble actually doing it. Anyone out there who's done it?

Thx!

I learned some time ago the first time I do something it usually has a HUGE learning curve. So I grabbed a large diameter punch and buffed it so it had a degree of shine and clamped in in my x-y vise and proceeded to practice. I quickly realized I needed some way to index it (as mentioned in the previous post) so I marked some masking tape and cut it to fit. I figure I'm going to have the nicest looking punch in town by the time I get it all worked out.
