Doble Troble
What makes them demil'ed. It's a shame! Were the demil'ed beyond repair? P.S. Canadians can make guns?
Gothmog
These guns would not be considered demil'ed in the US as the receivers are not cut. Instead, a steel rod is welded into the barrel and the bolt face is cut back. Sometimes trigger parts are removed or welded in place ... clever people weld the 'rebounding lever' (hope I have the name right) in place, and so one can cock and click the piece. One last thing that is done is to weld the piece so that it cannot be taken down ... Can they be 'repaired'? Probably, but not easily. Movie armourers sometimes restore these to firing condition, but they will be blank fire only ... And yes Canadians can make guns .... although I'm not absolutely sure what you're driving at its probably better that way.
RGRWJB
Goth I fired a Finn m44 while I was in Finland. Crude but nice.

Doble Troble
Gothmog, Thanks for the demil explanation. Regarding Canadian gunmaker comment, I was trying to be a smartass, and thought for sure I'd be reminded that John C. Garand was a Canuck. I've never met a Canadian I didn't like. And it's a beautiful country. I just wish it were easier to visit and shoot things up there.
Gothmog
Gothmog, Thanks for the demil explanation. Regarding Canadian gunmaker comment, I was trying to be a smartass, and thought for sure I'd be reminded that John C. Garand was a Canuck. And here I thought you were trying to suggest I should see about performing a few 'repairs' ... ... in post apocalypse Canada, perhaps. Garand was Canadian as you point out, but like so many of our more talented people, he had to move to the US to find real opportunity ... so it goes. As for shooting up here, its quite possible ... the easiest way is to know someone and go shooting with them. BTW, any of you folks are quite welcome to call upon me in that regard should you find yourself up this way .... G
