CTI
Whats the going rate for getting a new bolt handle welded on and cleaning up the weld? where the reciever wont have to be notched real deep or notched at all?
donmarkey
Expect to pay about $100 for a good quaility job. As for how the receiver has to be notched is all it how you want the handle mounted. Expect to notch the receiver unless you want to use high rings. And then the back of the handle will probably nee to be relieved. Don
tinkerfive
Well after yesterday I'm thinking that a fella doing that work ought to get paid by the hour rather than by the job. I was visiting with Tanglewood and he thought that he'd do me a favor by doing a cut and weld job on one of my German bolts. Boy did he bite off more than he figured on. Despite its German origins the steel had impurities that kept leading to pits. What he thought would be an hour job, he still wasn't happy with 3 hours later. I plan to dura-coat it so no biggie. You've got to understand that a job like that doesn't always go as planned. I've done my own so I understand all too well. Tinker PS Thanks Rod
